Dr. John Moran

MD, Family Medicine Specialist

About John

My name is Dr. John Moran, a Family Medicine Specialist who has been caring for and treating patients here in the great state of Arizona since 2006. I have worked in various capacities throughout my career since graduating residency in 2006. I have broad experience in the clinic setting, acute care hospital setting as well as in caring for patients in acute rehabilitation centers and long- term acute care centers. I have called Arizona my home for the past 12 years and have thoroughly enjoyed being readily available to care and advocate for all my patients.

I am originally from the New York- Metropolitan area growing up in Long Island, NY. I attended Fairfield University located in Fairfield, CT. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree, I attended medical school at University of the Americas located in San Jose, Costa Rica. After graduation from medical school I completed residency at Downstate Medical Center/Kings County Medical Center located in Brooklyn, NY where I served as Chief Resident my final year. I also served as the Union Representative for the Committee of Interns and Residents from 2003-2006. In addition, I speak fluent Spanish which allows me to care for and treat a broad spectrum of patients and their families.

I decided to move to Arizona for the beautiful weather and abundant outdoor activities. My first job was working as a Physician Contractor for the military at Davis Monthan Airforce Base where I spent seven years as a clinic physician. I also served as acting Medical Director for the contracting company Team Health. I took great pride in serving our active duty military members, their families as well as the retired military members. During my time at Davis- Monthan AFB I also worked on the weekends as a hospitalist caring for patients in the acute care setting at St Mary’s Hospital, HealthSouth rehabilitation centers and Kindred/ Cornerstone long term acute care facilities. I eventually transitioned to full time hospitalist work at both St Joseph’s Hospital and Northwest Hospital where I have worked for the past 5 years. I am now transitioning back to clinical medicine as I see an important need in the community for readily available and comprehensive care that will lead to overall better outcomes for all my patients.

I enjoy skiing, scuba diving, fishing and cooking. I also enjoy spending time with my two children and supporting them in their endeavors.
